Habe mich bei meinem EU Vertreter(in) beklagt. Hier die Antwort aus Britischer Sicht (ich wohne auf der Insel) ------------------------------- Dear Uwe,
Thank you for your email in which you explain the potential effects of last week's vote by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to outlaw American registered aircraft. I see you have also contacted my Liberal Democrat colleague in the South East, Catherine Bearder MEP. I hope you won't mind if I offer this reply on behalf of both offices.
I was contacted on this matter by a substantial number of constituents - as were Liberal Democrat MEPs throughout the country. However, it seems that the vote happened in an executive Committee of the European Aviation Security Agency (which was mandated by the Commission) and not in the European Parliament.
Despite not sitting on the Committee, members of the Liberal Democrat team looked for this issue in the Transport Committee and made contact with its Secretariat. However, there was nothing on its agenda.
As this vote occurred in EASA, MEPs could not bring any official influence over the outcome. However, how these votes normally work is that each Member State has their representative on the voting board. In light of the substantial correspondence received by MEPs, the Liberal Democrat Group leader in the Parliament, Fiona Hall MEP, wrote to the Department for Transport to express the points of concern.
Thank you once again for contacting me and I hope that this reply has been of use to you.
Yours sincerely,
Sharon Bowles MEP
