I posted this question earlier as I was having issues with the AP not capturing the LPV glide slope. Works like a charm on the ILS. The concensus was that the original install missed one of the wires
I had a shop check everything out and
I am new to the KFC150. I can make it couple the GS with the GN530W executing an ILS but it does not work with GPS approaches (LPV). The concensus suggestion before was " installer did not hook up ILS or GPS Approach and used ILS energize instead" but my shop checked this and they are pretty good, they added traffic and FF to the 530 without issue but confirmed the wiring was correct.
What is the next place to look? I flew a GPS approach yesterday and the lateral worked fine but it never captured the GS. Flew the ILS today and when the GS centered it captured no issue.
My procedure is:
-Vectors to Final activated, approach is active.
-AP in ALT mode holding altitude.
-AP in HDG mode with intercept angle.
-Press APR (light flashes)
-AP intercepts and tracks inbound course (HDG mode goes off and APR is on solid)
-GS shows in the HSI but it never captures, just keeps flying level
Any new ideas appreciated, is there something in the GNS530W menus that needs to be set? The GNS530 is also the source of the ILS.
Thanks .....
I'm assuming the GNS unit you had was an existing non WAAS unit, if so what we found early on in the WAAS program when updated in a Hawker Beechcraft they connected the GPS select line (pin 13 of P5001 of a 530 or P4001 on a 430). Before WAAS approaches this simply drove the annunciator as well as being paralleled to the autopilot. With the WAAS units we have a dedicated GPS annunciate line which needs to be connected to this annunciator. What your dealer will need to do is check and see if this GPS select line is connected to the autopilot as well as paralleled to the GPS light.
now to go into detail on what is happening is when we're in GPS mode we supply a ground on this line, however when the system goes into approach mode this line is supposed to go high and the approach output line goes low. With this wiring configuration from HB this GPS line is staying low through the annunciator and will never force the A/P to capture the glidepath. the reason it worked on a VLOC approach is that we never really used this line since we're not in GPS mode.
