Letztes Jahr mußten wir ohne karte unsere Griechenland Reise aussführen eine Karte war nicht erhältlich.
New version ( V 3.0 , 29/05/2014 ) of the VFR charts Greece are now available
We have the pleasure to inform you that a completely new version of the GAM ( Greek Aviation Map ) charts covering the Athinai FIR , the Version V 3.0 ( 29/05/2014 ) , is now available ..
Since we started with the first VFR charts covering the Athinai FIR ( V 1.0 – 08/11/2010 ) we never stop listening to our friend pilots and users of the charts to improve and provide a better and more practical tool .
We tried hard to do something better , easier to read and to use , with more information in volume but also in accuracy , with the latest up-dates from the AIP Greece and after several months of hard work , many trials and many , many double and triple checks , we finally managed to finalized the new version of the GAM charts : V 3.0 .
One of the improvement requested over and over was the quality of the background and improvement of the geographical information , which were based on the scanning of the old TPC charts ( based on information of the 80’ and 90’ ) .
Colors were too dark and too uniform , valley and mountains could not be easily defined , names of villages and town were not easily readable and with old names or spellings , not enough names of mountains , rivers and lakes or obvious landmarks , image of Greece as it was 25 years ago , without all the new highways , railroads and high power lines which are important landmarks reference for VFR pilots ..
So , for the Version V 3.0 , we decided to start from scratch ( blank paper ) and with the help of Anavasi Editions ( specialized in geographical mapping ) , we have built a new geographical reference chart , specially made for VFR pilots ( colors , altitudes in ft , ground reference marks , … ) , we have improve the readability ( even small letters of village name are readable ) and put a lot of geographical information ( village , mountains names , lake names , sea names , dam , … ) as is Greece in 2014 .
On top of this new background , we have put all the current aeronautical information based on the last AIP Greece version ( 29/05/2014 ) and also put some new and practical information like the availability of fuel at airport .
We believe that a safe flight can only be done based on correct , precise and current information ..
We will continue to update the charts each time that the AIP Greece will come up with significant changes , giving each VFR pilot the opportunity to have current aeronautical charts with the latest information on board , and we will continue to listen to every fellow pilot who comes up with ideas for improvement , remarks or error report ..
Major Changes on Version 3.0 ( 29/05/2014 )
In addition to the latest Greek AIP updates ( last edition 29/05/2014 ) , the following changes are included :
1. New geographical background , made from scratch with the help of Anavasi Edition , specially for aeronautical use , with improved colors , details and readability .
2. Addition of city , village , river , lake , gulf , bay and sea names as much as possible without being too cluttered ..
3. Addition of obvious landmarks , useful for reference and position awareness for VFR pilots like dam , railroad tracks , high power line , big bridges , highways and highways under construction ..
4. All geographical information are now in electronic form ( not scanned ) , which improve readability and de-cluttering capability ..
- All details information like Nav Aid frequencies and information , airport frequencies and information , VFR routes restriction have been reworked to improve the readability .
6. Addition of fuel availability , 100 LL and Jet A1 / JP8 at airports ( as found in the AIP Greece ) with the information of permanent availability or availability under condition ( see NOTAM or contact directly the fuel company provider to confirm the availability ) ..
7. New LEGEND , adapted for the new background but also made easier to read and understand .
8. New GAM logo .
We have also tried very hard to print the charts in a cheaper way , to make them more affordable to each pilot and to really implement the notion of consumable ( an aeronautical chart is only safe as long as the information on it , are the latest available and correct , so it should be change or updated regularly ) .
But due to the low production volume , we do not have access to mass-production technology ( like offset printing ) and each test we did with cheaper paper / printing technology , the results were disappointing ( small savings for big paper quality / printing quality losses ) ..
To help each pilot to have a current chart in the cockpit , we have decided to keep our prices unchanged ( still the same prices since the first edition in 2010 ) and for you , as a previous Greek Aviation Map client , we have decided to give you a discount of 10 % to help you having current charts in your cockpit .
